Both the 'odoia' and the 'naduri' genres were types of work songs sung by villagers during communal harvest activities. Different songs were linked to specific times of the day, and to specific parts of the work process.
This arrangement, popularized by the Rustavi Ensemble, begins with alternating solo and soli phrases, answered by the full choir. The final sections are antiphonal, with the choir divided into two equal, alternating groups.
