Sesimfumene is a Zulu wedding song, in which two soloists sing in call-and-response style with the choir.
Traditional Zulu weddings--which are considered the joining of two families as much as they are
the joining of husband and wife--can last several days, and include church ceremonies and a longer series of rituals in the homes of the groom and the bride. Friendly singing and dancing competitions between the bride's family and the groom's family are an integral part of any traditional wedding.
